I was doing some research into medical assistant programs the other day and it caused me to start to wonder about how these programs developed over time. More specifically, I was curious about who designed these programs and determined which classes, course materials, certifications and degrees were appropriate for a student attending one of these programs.
After reviewing websites for schools like Sanford Brown Atlanta and Sanford Brown Institute Tampa, I came to the conclusion that a lot of different people influence the final design of a degree program at these types of institutions. Just a few of the notable groups of influence include:
- Doctors and medical research experts. Who knows better what a med student needs to know if not the professionals in the field?
- Health and medical teachers. People who have been educating these students over time know what materials are right for a class.
- Students and alumni. The students themselves frequently offer valuable insight into how to improve existing programs.
- Patients. Ultimately these are the people who need medical assistance so they get a say as well.
The reason that medical assistant programs across the nation have developed into such a great body of education is that they have been influenced by a diverse group of people who all have a different perspective on what is required from a good program.
