Becoming a Complement to my Wife

After growing up in a household where both of my parents worked together, I decided that when I finally married my sweetheart, that we would work together too.  I thought that it would make sense, and give us the opportunity to spend even more time together at work and at home.

As it turned out, I met the most beautiful woman in the world and she was a dentist.  We dated for two years and finally tied the knot in marriage.  At the time, she was working with another dentist, but we decided that it would be better for us to go on our own and start our own practice.

At the time, I was just finishing my Master of Public Health with a dental emphasis so I figured that it would be a perfect fit for our new venture.  It was perfect, and we have been working together ever since.

But now, my wife has decided that she wants to further her education and she has been looking at some Doctoral Degrees in Health Education to further round out her skills.  I think that she might want to teach at some point and move away from having her own dental practice, but we will have to wait and see.

Needless to say, I am so very happy that we have been working together for all of these years - it has been the best thing for our relationship.

I got my Master’s in Public Health and it helped me get a good job. But, if I want to advance in my chosen field, I know I’ll need to get a doctorate. It’ll be worth it, though, because then I’ll be qualified for high-paying administrative jobs.

I work as dentist, too, and I’ve been thinking of getting a doctorate in health education myself. I think I would make more money than having my own practice, plus, there’s a huge demand for medical educators right now.

Being a dentist is a pretty good gig. I make good money, and I get plenty of time off to go fishing. However, lately, I’ve been thinking of going back to school to get a doctorate so I can teach and maybe run my practice part-time.

I think it’s great that this blogger can work with his wife. I had my wife working in my own practice for a few years, but after a while, it got to be too much of a good thing. That’s why I was glad she wanted to go back to school to get her Master’s in Public Health so she can work somewhere else when she’s done with school.

Sometimes it’s a good thing when you work together, but it can create some problems, like when the kids are sick. I make more money in my dental practice than my wife does as hygienist, so she’s usually the one home with a sick kid. Just something to think about.

After working in my own dental practice for 20+ years, I’m ready for something new. This blog makes me think about switching over to teaching even though I’d have to get a doctorate in health education.

With the way the economy’s going, getting a doctorate in health education is a good move. Lots of jobs out there, with more appearing every year. Med schools are crying for instructors, especially nursing schools.

I got my doctorate in health education last year, and was bombarded with job offers. I got to pick the one I liked best in a city that I love. Best thing I ever did.

I’m working on a Master’s in Public Health, too, and my professors are all really optimistic about the job prospects for my class. I just have to decide where I should start looking after I graduate.
